ARK SKETCHBOOK ONLINE

We've just added a new feature to the website called the Sketchbook. This is where you can come and view a good selection of our concept art, paintings and 3D work.

Due to the nature of the industry, this type of production art hardly ever gets shown outside of the studio, which is a shame because it’s actually where our job begins and is probably the most important stage of a project.

We've just completed another CG TV commercial, this one for the Kellogs breakfast cereal Cocopops. In this case the Moons and Stars variety. We directed the live action filming and did all the spacey CG animation. Have to say though we didn't do the monkey!

Ark has been working on lots of interesting stuff, unfortunately much of it can't be revealed yet. One job that can though, is this all-CG recruitment ad for the Singapore Navy.

In a challenging collaborative brief, we had to create a low-flying introductory approach shot to the Pacific island location for the next version of the top-selling PS3 racer, Motorstorm.

One of the most complex shots we've created to date, the final version consist of many layers of effects to create the final illusion.

This project involved the development of mo-capped cut-scenes and intro movies for Bizarre Creations arcade shooter for Sega; “The Club”.

Our scenes gave each of the 8 characters a backstory, both introducing them and showing how they attempt to beat the system in the end.

ARK COMMANDS MINIONS!

We also recently completed another videogame intro movie, this time for the upcoming Xbox 360 title Overlord developed by Triumph for Codemasters.

This was created by painstakingly building hi-definition cinematic quality models from the realtime game versions. The Overlord himself was particularly challenging with his multiplate articulating armour. Much research was conducted at the Royal Armouries!

DRIVER PARALLEL LINES

This is one of Ark's biggest projects to date, over 30 minutes of full cinematic quality animation for the latest installment in Atari and Reflections' Driver series, equivalent in running time to a third of a full feature-film. Sixteen separate linking scenes were created; to introduce new characters, give out mission instructions, expose plot twists and advance the game's storyline. The game takes place in both 1978 and 2006, and the brief was to capture the look of both eras. An unlikely cast of over 32 characters were all modelled in painstaking detail, a cast that included pimps, geeks, strippers, an ex-military type, and even a corrupt police chief.
